Survey opportunity for nurses

The Trust Initiative survey

The Trust Initiative is a research project on health-care worker trust in the health-care system and how it was impacted by COVID-19. It is a collaboration between Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC, SWITCH BC, and the University of Victoria School of Nursing. The research aims to identify system-wide recommendations, and to support health-care workers and leaders in providing the highest standard of care across B.C. You are encouraged to participate if you are a health-care worker who worked through COVID-19 in 2020-2022 and have continued to work in health care in B.C. Survey closes Feb. 14, 2025.

Scope of Practice documents: upcoming changes

BCCNM is reviewing and reorganizing the Scope of Practice documents for LPNs, RNs, and RPNs. Over the coming year, you can expect the format of these standards to change, along with where you find the information on the BCCNM website. Visit the website for information and updates.

Do you know when you're crossing a boundary?

The nurse — not the client — is always responsible for establishing and maintaining boundaries. This learning resource helps you understand boundaries in the nurse-client relationship through case studies, resources, and FAQs.

Inquiry, Discipline, and Monitoring updates

BCCNM publishes a variety of professional conduct notices on its website. These notices include consent agreements, Discipline Committee and Inquiry Committee notices, and Inquiry and Discipline hearing notices. While all of these notices are public information, only exceptional outcomes (i.e., Inquiry Committee order, Discipline order, hearing outcome) and circumstances (i.e., discipline hearing) are highlighted in registrant newsletters.
