The application process for graduates of a BCCNM-recognized nursing education program in British Columbia

B.C. grad application process

As a new or future graduate of a B.C. school of nursing you are now ready to apply to be a registered nurse with the college. Here are the steps you need to take to complete your application.

  1. Prepare your documents. (Please see below "Documents you need before you apply" for more information).

  2. Sign into your BCCNM account (if you don't have a BCCNM account you can create one).

  3. Complete and submit your application for RN registration, including required documents, and the assessment fee.  (Please note: If you wish to apply for Provisional Registration, you will find this option when you are completing the RN application).

  4. Once we have received notice from your school that you have completed your program, you will receive an email from BCCNM directing you to pay for Provisional Registration, and an email from Pearson VUE inviting you to choose a date for the NCLEX-RN exam*

  5. Once you have passed the NCLEX-RN exam you will be eligible for RN practising status.

*If you did not apply for Provisional Registration, and/or you did not pay for the NCLEX-RN exam, please refer to the instructions sent to you in the email titled “Important Information” when you are ready to write the exam.

Documents you need before you apply

To avoid delays or issues with processing your application, you must prepare the following documents before you start an online application:

  • You will need to provide two pieces of acceptable identification. The specific requirements for identification can be found in the identification registration requirements. These documents must be notarized by a notary public or lawyer and their seal or stamp must be visible on the scanned image.
NOTE: Notarization of documents must be done in-person by a lawyer or notary public; BCCNM does not accept virtually notarized documents.

  • All documents must include your full name. We cannot accept documents that include initials as part of your name.

  • If you have previously submitted identity documents to us (for example with an Employed Student Registration application) you are not required to submit again.
