Observing National Day for Truth & Reconciliation

September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. BCCNM reaffirms our commitment to honour Indigenous Peoples and their healing journeys. We pledge to continue taking action to dismantle Indigenous-specific racism in the health-care system.

Revisions to home birth standards now in effect

Previous home birth standards have now been rescinded. A new standard—Home and Community Birth: Standards, Limits, and Conditions—has replaced them. Two guidelines were also rescinded, and corresponding revisions made to the RM Standards of Practice. Effective Aug. 27, 2024.

Transitioning to the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA)

The Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) received Royal Assent in 2022, and will replace the current Health Professions Act. Some sections of the HPOA are already in force. BCCNM has been working with the Ministry of Health, other health regulators, and key partners to plan for this transition. Planned BCCNM system downtime: Sept. 14-16

On Sept. 14-16, BCCNM systems will be unavailable due to scheduled upgrades and maintenance. During this time, applicants and registrants will be unable to:

  • Log into their BCCNM account
  • Create or submit applications
  • Make payments
  • Order controlled prescription pads (registrants only)

We encourage you to complete any tasks required before Sept. 13.

 

Office closed

BCCNM's office will be closed on Monday, Sept. 30. We will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
