BCCNM Educator Update | March 2025

MARCH 2025

New Education Program Review Process is live!

Earlier this month, BCCNM launched a new education program review process to consistently review all midwifery and nursing education programs. Thank you to all the educators that supported the development of the new process by providing feedback or participating in the pilot.

The new process is now in effect and will be used for programs with a recognition end date of 2026 or later; programs completing a review before the end of 2025 will continue to follow the legacy process. For more information, please visit the Education Program Review page on our website.

Upcoming changes to LPN, RN, and RPN scope of practice documents

The BCCNM board has rescinded the scope documents – LPN Scope of Practice Standards, Limits, and Conditions; the RN Scope of Practice Standards, Limits, and Conditions; and the RPN Scope of Practice Standards, Limits, and Conditions – to support the transition of this content into practice standards and learning resources.

These changes will take effect June 2, 2025.

Engagement opportunities

BCCNM regularly consults with registrants before making changes to scope, standards, and policies that impact nursing and midwifery in B.C. We want to hear from you! Check out the engagement page on our website for a full list of opportunities to share your expertise and help shape provincial nursing regulation.

Updating key contacts

The BCCNM Education Program Review team maintains a list of key contacts for each approved education program. This list is used to communicate regulatory changes impacting educators and provide updates on the EPR process. If you need to update the contacts for your education program, please send us an email so we can update our records.
