The British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is seeking a team of two program evaluators to review a psychiatric nursing education program in British Columbia. The review will be carried out under the direction of the BCCNM Education Program Review Committee, in accordance with the
BCCNM Educational Program Review Policies.
BCCNM is responsible for establishing the standards of academic achievement required for registered psychiatric nurse (RPN) graduates and for recognizing psychiatric nursing educational programs that prepare graduates for registration as a RPN. From October 2022 to April 2023, Stenberg College Regional Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing program will be engaged in the education program review process with BCCNM. The
BCCNM Standards and Indicators for the Recognition of Entry-Level Psychiatric Nursing Education Programs sets out the standards that the program must meet for program recognition.
Criteria for selection of team of two Reviewers include:
Practicing registration in good standing with the relevant provincial nursing regulatory body.
RPNs with current and relevant expertise in psychiatric nursing education and practice. Proposals will also be accepted from nursing professionals who are not RPNs, who might otherwise meet the education and program evaluation experience requirements. In this case, one of the team of two reviewers must be an RPN.
Masters level preparation in nursing, education, or a health-related discipline.
No perceived or actual conflict of interest with the program being reviewed, such as being a current or former student or employee of Stenberg College.
