BCCNM board approves revision to RN/RPN Prescribing Standard

Sep 23, 2021

The BCCNM board on Sep. 23, 2021, approved revisions to the RN and RPN Prescribing standards related to making a prescribing decision during a virtual care encounter when a visual assessment is not possible.

These amendments are in response to a potential barrier to care that was identified by nurses caring for clients, such as those in rural and remote settings, who may not have access to video technology that would allow the nurse to conduct a visual assessment.

These revisions are effective immediately.
