On February 24, 2023, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Ravneet Kaur Kaler of Surrey to address practice issues that occurred during September 2021 while employed with a community pharmacy program to deliver and administer medication to patients in their homes. The Registrant did not follow relevant standards, employer policies, and instructions when she delivered narcotics through a mail slot, thereby not engaging in any assessment or evaluation of the patient's health status and causing a potential breach of this patient's personal health information as the delivery was made to the wrong address.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:
- A public reprimand and suspension of their nursing registration for two (2) days;
- Remedial education in preventing medication errors, patient privacy and ethics; and
- A regulatory practice consulting program to address the foundational issues underpinning this Agreement.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
