Racism in health care: An apology to Indigenous People and a pledge to be anti-racist

We're deeply saddened to learn about the remains of 215 children discovered in a mass unmarked grave on the grounds of the former Kamloops Residential School. We express our deepest condolences to Chief Kukpi7 Rosanne Casimir and the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc Nations and to all residential school survivors and their families, who have carried this trauma for so long, and who continue to confont casual and institutional racism on a daily basis.

We grieve with you, and recommit to playing an active role in addressing anti-Indigenous racism in the healthcare system.

Extensive investigation results in serious penalties for two nurse administrators

On May 23, 2021, BCCNM reached consent agreements with Euphemia Guttin (agreement) and Victoria Weber (agreement) to resolve complaints about their conduct and competence from 2016-2018 while working as registered nurses in senior leadership roles at the Garth Homer Society in Victoria, B.C. These agreements were reached after a lengthy and complex investigation that spanned approximately three years.

Inquiry, Discipline, and Monitoring updates


BCCNM publishes a variety of professional conduct notices on its website. These notices include consent agreements, Discipline Committee and Inquiry Committee notices, and Inquiry and Discipline hearing notices. While all of these notices are public information, only exceptional outcomes (i.e., Inquiry Committee order, Discipline order, hearing outcome) and circumstances (i.e., discipline hearing) are highlighted in registrant newsletters.
