Seeking exam reviewers

The British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is seeking your help as we develop the REx-PN, a new practical nursing (PN) regulatory exam. Specifically, we need the assistance of nurses who work with new LPNs to review items prepared for the exam

This volunteer opportunity gives you a chance to participate on a panel that will review the new PN exam questions to ensure they reflect entry-level practice of LPNs in Canada.

To be considered for participation, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Clinicians working with new LPNs in an acute, long term care or community practice setting ;
  • Clinicians who are familiar with LPN entry-level competencies and practice expectations for novice LPNs with less than one year's experience;
  • Registered with BCCNM in good standing;
  • Employed as an RN, RPN or LPN for at least two years.

In addition, you will need to…

  • have your employer's permission to be released from work duties and/or be available on your own time to participate in the review panel activities;
  • be able to commit three days of virtual panel meetings August 17-19, 2021;
  • Have access to a computer with a camera, microphone, and hi-speed internet;
  • Have the ability to download an app to your phone for remote proctoring.

…and you must not have…

participated in developing a national, provincial or territorial nursing exam within the past two years.
