Telehealth Practice Standard rescinded as of March 1, 2021

Feb 4, 2021

The BCCNM board at its Jan. 28, 2021 meeting rescinded the Telehealth Practice Standard for registered nurses and nurse practitioners. This decision takes effect on March 1, 2021. BCCNM is in the process of removing references to the standard and related content from our website.

BCCNM is creating a virtual care/telehealth policy that aligns with the approaches and public safety focus of other regulators in Canada and Internationally. Going forward, BCCNM expects to implement the requirement that nurses, nurse practitioners and midwives providing the practice of nursing or midwifery to residents of BC (in-person or virtually) are registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
