On October 20, 2022, a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between BCCNM and Melvic Michelle Tan, formerly of Burnaby, B.C., to address issues related to their conduct:
- Between June and August 2020, the Registrant went on two separate for-pleasure international trips and did not quarantine upon her return to Canada as required by federal and provincial public health measures. The Registrant proceeded to immediately return to employment in a hospital and placed at risk vulnerable patients, other staff, and members of the public.
- The Registrant made false statements and/or submitted false documentation to both her employer and BCCNM during investigation.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to terms equivalent to a limit and/or condition on their practice, including:
- A suspension of their nursing registration for two months; and
- Remedial education in ethics and professionalism.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public.
