New self-assessment questions for nurses

When nurses complete their self-assessment questionnaire during registration renewal 2022, they will see two new questions relating to cultural safety and humility in their practice:

  • I reflect on how my beliefs, values, biases, conduct and position of power as a healthcare provider may impact Indigenous clients' health care experiences.
  • I take action to identify, address, prevent and eliminate indigenous-specific racism.

BCCNM has also created a preliminary list of cultural safety and humility resources to support nurses and midwives in their practice (see below).
